What does it sound like when two cultures from opposite sides of the continent come together to make music? A lot like Tir Fada 🙂
Tir Fada is our Gaelic/Irish-Scottish troupe combining traditional Greek music with Celtic traditions. As well as all my other projects there is a strong focus on original compositions of the group. We are currently working on, and rehearsing with new material – songs and instrumental tunes – that will form our first album!
Elsa Mouratidou is the amazing singer and tireless Gaelic learner for this group joined by Kostas Kyritsakis a virtuoso of the Cretan Lyra & Viololyra, Giorgos Skarogiannis a remarkable acoustic & finger-style guitar player (check out his very active youtube channel here, where he publishes regularly covers and excellent original compositions ) and -of course who else?- regular collaborator (also in Neda & m3) Pavlos Spyropoulos on the Contrabass! Ι play irish whistles in the group and compose tunes and songs.
We all share the same love for Celtic traditions and last Easter we made a trip together in Scotland to visit friends there and experience their wonderful musical world closely!
